Idea Gallery Round-Up: May 2016

With the summer months here the Idea Gallery exploded with bold, vibrant looks that left us speechless. Elegant looks with pops of shimmer invaded our gallery for fresh faced looks that are ideal for the hotter months. With so many astonishing looks to choose from you are sure to find more than one to love and recreate.

As always, we have included the tips and tricks for recreating the look. If there is a video tutorial that accompanies the look we will link it for you at the bottom of the individual look. REBEL DAY BY JUSTYNA KILODZIEJ

Halo looks are all the rage, and this dreamy look is perfect for a day at the office or a romantic evening.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Fashion Addict, Hopscotch, Taboo, Pillow Talk, Makeup Geek Duochrome in Rebel

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Orchid

  • Pat Rebel on the inner and outer 1/3 of the eye and connect iin the crease.
  • Smudge the same shade under the eye coming in to where your lashes begin.
  • Blend out the crease with a small fluffy brush and Fashion Addict keeping the color in the crease. (Don’t buff upward to much).
  • Wipe off your brush and blend out any lines with Hopscotch.
  • Pat Pillow Talk on the center of the eye and smudge under the eye where the Rebel left off.
  • Darken the outer v of the eye and the outer edge of the lower lash line with Taboo.
  • Line the lower waterline with Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Orchid.
  • Curl your lashes and add your favorite mascara. (You can also add a set of natural false lashes or individual lashes to amp up the look).
  • You can also use a cotton bud and a small amount of makeup remover to create the semi-crisp line at the edge of the eye, just make sure to do your eyes BEFORE your foundation routine. 😉

SOFT NATURAL SMOKEY EYE BY DENITSLAVA M

Ideal for any occasion, this classic eye offers a hint of smoke to enhance your natural features without being to dramatic.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Cocoa Bear, Corrupt, Crème Brulee, Shimma Shimma

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Obsidian

  • Place Crème Brulee on the outer edge of the eye and sweep into the crease.
  • Use a smaller dome brush and Cocoa Bear and gently pat on the outer 1/2 of the eye coming up into the crease.
  • With a angled liner brush and Corrupt, line the outer 1/2 of the upper lash line creating a small wing at the edge and smoking the color out slightly. (Keep going in with Corrupt until you get the darkness from the color your desire).
  • Go back with your small blending brush and Cocoa Bear and use to smoke out the Corrupt.
  • Use a fluffy brush and Crème Brulee to buff out any lines in the crease.
  • Darken the lash line with Corrupt.
  • Pat Shimma Shimma on the inner 1/2 of the lower lid.
  • Smudge a small amount of Crème Brulee on the lower lash line.
  • Place a small amount of Shimma Shimma on the inner corner and under your brow as your high light.
  • Curl your lashes and add a set of natural, fluffy lashes.
  • Line the lower waterline with Obsidian to finish.

TOXIC MINT BY ANSHU

Bold summer shades make a huge comeback with this vibrant look that offers a pop of glitter sure to dazzle.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Corrupt, Toxic, Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Obsidian, Makeup Geek Sparkler in Solstice, Stargazer

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Mocha

  • Pat Toxic on the lid staying below the crease leaving the inner corner blank.
  • Smudge Corrupt on the lower lash line coming in slightly past where your lashes begin.
  • Place the same black on the outer 1/3 of the eye and bring slightly into the crease keeping the majority of the color on the outer part of the eye.
  • Using Mocha, buff out any harsh lines from the Corrupt for a seamless transition.
  • Gently pat Stargazer over the inner part of the lower lid that was left black as well as the rest of the lower lash line.
  • Add a pop of Solstice on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Line the lower water line with Obsidian and add a set of tapered lashes to bring the look together.

DEEP NAVY BLEU SMOKY EYES BY ROSE HERD

Simple and elegant with a touch of drama, this enticing look uses grey tones to create a alternative to the black smoky eye.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Bedrock, Concrete Jungle, Ice Queen, Moondust, Purely Naked, Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Sparkler in Stargazer

Makeup Geek Alternatives: Latte, Crème Brulee

  • Sweep Purely Naked (or Crème Brulee) into the crease taking the color just slightly above the crease and buffing out any lines.
  • Pat Moondust over the inner 1/3 of the eye coming up slightly past the crease.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Bedrock over the center of the lid making sure to blend where the 2 shades meet.
  • Again, wipe off your brush and place Concrete Jungle over the outer 1/3 of the eye again making sure to blend where the shades meet.
  • Use your fluffy brush you used to apply Purely Naked and buff out the grey in the crease.
  • With a smaller dome brush, place Buck from the UD Palette or Makeup Geek’s Latte in the crease to add depth.
  • Go back with your fluffy brush and blend out any lines from the brown.
  • Smudge Moondust on the lower lash line coming in 1/2 of the way.
  • Darken the outer edge of the lower lash line with Mocha.
  • Smudge Ice Queen on the rest of your lower lash line and Stargazer on the inner corner.
  • Add Ice Queen under the brow as your highlight, pop on a pair of wispy lashes and you are set.

SOFT CORAL PINK SMOKEY EYE BY DENITSLAVA M

Bold, colorful and full of fun, this combines some of our favorite shades for this time of year.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Beaches and Cream, Cupcake, Shimma Shimma, Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in In The Spotlight

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Gel Liner in Immortal, Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in Simply Marlena

  • Sweep Beaches and Cream into the crease as your transition shade.
  • Buff Cupcake into the crease with a fluffy brush blending upward and out.
  • Use a pencil brush and Simply Marlena to trace the curve of your eye creating a soft cut crease.
  • With a small brush, drag the color upward slightly and buff out with Cupcake once again.
  • Pat In The Spotlight on the lover lid making sure to stay below the pink crease.
  • Smudge Simply Marlena on the lower lash line coming in to where your lashes begin and buff out using Cupcake.
  • Add a pop of Shimma Shimma under the brow as your highlight and on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Smudge In The Spotlight on the rest of the lower lash line.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal creating a dramatic winged edge and use to darken the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line as well.
  • This is optional but you can also line the upper and lower waterlines for added drama.
  • Curl your lashes and add a set of thick, dramatic lashes.

THE PERFECT DIAGONAL SMOKEY EYE BY MAKEUPBYEMILLY

Diagonal eye shadow shapes give the eyes an elongated, cat eye effect making them perfect for smaller eyes or anytime you want to amp up your look.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Cocoa Bear, Corrupt, Desert Sands, Mocha, MAC Pigment in Vanilla, MAC Eye Shadow in Blanc Type

Makeup Geek Alternatives: Vanilla Bean, Afterglow

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek’s Gel Liner in Immortal

  • Begin by placing a piece of scotch tape on the back of your hand and removing it a few times to remove some of the “stickiness”.
  • Place the tape along the outer edge of the eye, this will create the sharp, crisp edge.
  • Pat MAC’s Blanc Type or Makeup Geek’s Vanilla Bean under the brow and on the inner 1/2 of your lower lid.
  • Use a small fluffy brush and buff Desert Sands into the outer 1/2 of the lower lid coming up past the crease. (Makeup sure to buff out any lines as well).
  • With a smaller fluffy brush and swirl Cocoa Bear over the Desert Sands.
  • Use an even smaller dome brush and darken the outer edge with Mocha.
  • Go back in with Desert Sands and the brush you used to apply it and use to blend all the shadows together blending out any harsh edges.
  • Pat Corrupt starting on the center of your lid and place along the eye in a horizontal line following the edge of the tape. Go back and blend out any lines. (This is where you really have to blend). Go back and add more until you get the desired amount of color.
  • Gently pat MAC’s Vanilla Pigment or Makeup Geek’s Pigment in Afterglow on the inner 1/2 of your lower lid making sure to blend where it meets the darker shades.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal (you can use a pencil liner or a liquid liner as well) creating a slight winged edge.
  • Go in with a smudge brush and Corrupt and smudge out the outer 1/2 of the liner including the wing.
  • Remove the tape and use a makeup wipe or cotton bud to clean up any excess fall out.
  • Curl your lashes and add a set of long, tapered lashes.
  • Smudge Cocoa Bear on the lower lash line coming in to where your lashes begin.
  • Pair the eyes with peach cheeks and a nude peachy lip for a polished finish.

FRESH, SMOKEY, GLAM! BY KAYLA MATISI

No need to avoid a smoky eye this summer, this offers that perfect hint of soft color to create a smoky look ideal for the warmer months.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Corrupt, Brownie Points, Friend Zone, Pillow Talk, Sand Dollar

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in Taboo, Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Obsidian

  • Sweep Sand Dollar over the entire eye to aid with blending.
  • Wipe off your brush and place Friend Zone in the crease and the outer 1/3 of the eye feathering out any lines and bring under the eye as well.
  • Take a smaller dome brush and blend Brownie Points into the crease and outer 1/3 keeping the color focused on the outer part of the eye. Again, sweep the color along the lower lash line.
  • Use a smaller dome brush and place Taboo on the outer 1/3 of the eye and sweep on the lower lash line keeping the color on the outer edge of the eye.
  • Go in with a clean fluffy and gently buff out any sharp lines they may be left.
  • Darken the outer v of the eye and the outer edge of the lower lash line with Corrupt.
  • Go back with Taboo and buff out the Corrupt.
  • Pat Pillow Talk on the lower lash line and inner corner making sure to blend where it meets the other shades previously placed.
  • Line the lower waterline with Obsidian and use a smudge brush to smoke out the black on the lower lash line.
  • To complete the look, curl your lashes and add a set of dramatic lashes. The artist here used House of Lashes “Iconic”.

WATER & LAND VIBES BY LILI001

Bold shades inspired by the land and sea collide to create a stunning title wave for the eyes.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Boo Berry, Dragonfly, Neptune, Shimma Shimma, Time Travel

  • Place a piece of scotch tape along the outer edge of your eye.
  • Sweep Dragonfly into the crease with a fluffy brush blending upward and out keeping most of the color along the edge of the tape.
  • Pat Neptune on the outer 1/3 of the eye coming up into the crease.
  • Blend out the crease with Neptune. Darken the outer v of the eye with Time Travel and sweep slightly into the crease focusing the color on the outer edge.
  • Go back in with Dragon Fly and make sure all the colors are blended well.
  • Smudge Time Travel on the lower lash line coming into where your lashes begin.
  • Wipe off your brush and smudge Dragonfly on the rest of the lower lash line.
  • Add Shimma Shimma under your brow as your highlight and on the inner corner.
  • Pat Boo Berry over on the lower waterline coming in 1/2 way followed by Dragonfly.
  • Finish by curling your lashes and adding a set of dramatic, fluffy lashes.

MANNYMUA FIRST TIME BY AGWER

Using our favorite palette of all time, this look is not only easy to recreate but looks stunning on every eye color.

Products Used: Manny MUA Palette

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Obsidian

  • Sweep Beaches and Cream into the crease as your transition shade.
  • Go back in with Frappe and darken the crease feathering out any lines.
  • Pat Artemis on the inner 1/2 of the lower lid and on the inner corner.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Mars on the outer 1/2 making sure to over lap the shades. (This will create the lighter shade on the center of the eye).
  • Smudge Insomnia on the lower lash line and smoke out using Aphrodite.
  • Use a liner brush and place a small amount of Aphrodite along the upper lash line.
  • Line the lower waterline with Obsidian, curl your lashes and add your favorite mascara to finish.

DROP OF GOLD SMOKEYEYE BY ASHU

Deep, dark and sultry with a hint of rich gold makes this an exotic look ideal for adding some heat to your summer nights.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in Corrupt, Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in Untamed

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in Envy, Mocha, Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Obsidian

  • Place Mocha on the outer 1/2 of the eye and extend the color into a cat eye shape at the edge and wrap the same color around onto the lower lash line coming in all the way.
  • Pat Envy over the inner 1/2 of the lower lid staying below the crease.
  • Go back in with the brush you used to apply Mocha and gently buff out the crease.
  • Pat Untamed over the center of the lid.
  • Darken the inner and outer 1/3 of the eye with Corrupt and connect in the crease.
  • Go back in with the brush you used for Mocha and again blend out any lines from the crease and the outer edge of the eye.
  • Use a clean brush to smoke out the lower lash line.
  • Darken the outer edge of the lower lash line with Corrupt.
  • Add a pop of Untamed on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Line the upper and lower waterlines with Obsidian.
  • Finish by adding a set of dramatic, fluffy lashes and a good mascara to your bottom lashes.

Products Used: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Corrupt, Fuji, Fantasy, Pegasus, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean and Milk

Makeup Geek Alternatives: Obsidian, Immortal, Nude

  • Place a small amount of NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk or Makeup Geek’s Full Spectrum Liner in Nude, on the lower lid coming up slightly past the crease and blend out with your finger or a brush.
  • Pat Pegasus over the lower lid staying below the crease.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Fantasy over the inner 1/2 of the lower lid coming in all the way.
  • Use a fluffy brush and buff Fuji into the crease blending upward slightly.
  • Go in with a clean brush to blend out any lines from the Fuji.
  • Darken the outer v of the eye with Corrupt and smudge along the upper lash line.
  • Line the lower waterline with Black Bean or Obsidian and smudge the same pencil under the eye coming in all the way.
  • Use a small amount of Corrupt to smoke out the lower lash line.
  • Curl your lashes and add a set of wispy lashes.
  • Use KVD’s Trooper or Makeup Geek’s Immortal to line the upper band of the lashes to help conceal it.
  • Pair it with a soft cheek and bare or nude lip and you have a super summer smoky eye. 🙂

  • Pat Whimsical over the lower lid.
  • Darken the outer 1/3 of the crease with Cocoa Bear.
  • Go back with the brush you used with Beaches and Cream and blend out any lines from the Cocoa Bear.
  • Smudge Mesmerized on the lower lash line coming in all the way and over the lower waterline.
  • Add a pop of White Lies under the brow and on the inner corner.
  • All that’s left to do now is curl your lashes and add a great mascara.

  • Pat Jeffree Star’s Scorpio (OR ANY PURPLE BASE) over the lower lid and blend out coming up to the crease.
  • Use a combination of Americano and Concrete Jungle and gently pat over the base and sweep along the outer edge of the eye and under the eye.
  • Go in with Baby Face and a fluffy brush and blend out the crease and under the eye.
  • Add White Lies under your brow as your highlight.
  • Gently pat Zodiac on the inner corner of the eye sweeping it in on the inner corner of the lower lid.
  • Line the upper lash line with KVD’s Trooper or Makeup Geek’s Immortal creating a very long, dramatic wing.
  • Complete the look by adding a set of flirty lashes and a muted purple lip.

  • Buff Beaches and Cream through the crease as your transition shade.
  • Using a smaller fluffy brush, sweep Frappe in the crease.
  • Go back with your brush you used with Beaches and Cream and feather out any lines.
  • Apply Aphrodite to the inner and outer 1/3 of the eye and connect in the crease.
  • Use the brush you used with Frappe and buff out any lines.
  • Pat Luna on the center of the lid allowing it to come up slightly past the crease.
  • Smudge Aphrodite on the lower lash line coming in all the way and smoke out using Frappe.
  • Line the lower waterline with Obsidian and add a set of soft lashes.

GREEN CUT CREASE BY UCHE NWAOKOCHA

Make everyone around you green with envy with this striking cut crease using one of our favorite duochromes.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Duochrome in Typhoon, Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Chickadee, Dirty Martini, Enchanted Forest, Morocco, Jester

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in Beaches and Cream, White Lies, Corrupt, Makeup Geek Duochrome Shadow in Voltage, Makeup Geek Gel Liner in Immortal, NYX Cream Base in Milk

Makeup Geek Alternatives: Nude

  • Gently place Beaches and Cream over the eye to aid in blending the shadows.
  • Buff Chickadee into the crease blending out any lines. (You can use a color such as Peach Smoothie, etc. as your transition shade).
  • Wipe off your brush and go in with Morocco and place over the Chickadee blending out any lines.
  • Buff Dirty Martini into the your crease over the previous shades and blend well to defuse the color slightly.
  • Use a small detail brush, or pointed crease brush and Enchanted Forest and trace the natural curve of your crease.
  • Use a fluffy brush to blend out any lines for a smooth transition.
  • Keep going back until you get the desired intensity of color. Just remember to blend after each application of color.
  • With a small detail brush and NYX Cream Base in Milk (you can also use the Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk) or the Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Nude, place the color over the lower lid making sure to stay below the crease. (Use the white base to clean up the line in the crease and make it sharp as well as the outer edge of the eye).
  • If you lose some of the color in the crease you can go back with Enchanted Forest and add more color.
  • Pat White Lies over the white base making sure to stay below the cut crease.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Typhoon over the white base extending the color along the edge of the eye where you place the white base as well.
  • Define the crease with Corrupt and a very small brush. (This is optional, just make sure to blend for a smooth transition).
  • Smudge Enchanted Forest on the lower lash line coming in all the way and smoke out using Dirty Martini.
  • Use a combination of Voltage and Jester and add to the inner corner of the eye.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal creating winged edge and add your favorite lashes to complete the look.

GOLD MERMAID BY NATALIA PIOTROWICZ

Brown eyed girls, heads up, this is for YOU! Inspired by the jewel tones of a mermaid, this will enhance your eyes making sure you’re the center of attention.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Mermaid, Peacock, Poolside, Sea Mist, Time Travel

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in Magic Act, Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in White Lies

  • Gently sweep Sea Mist into your crease and blending upward and out.
  • Bring the color around the outer edge of the eye and on the outer 1/2 of the lower lash line.
  • Wipe off your brush and blend Mermaid into the crease again bringing the color around the eye and under it as well.
  • Pat Magic Act over the inner 1/2 of the lower lid staying below the crease.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Peacock on the outer 1/2 of the lower lid making sure to overlap where the shades meet. This will create the lighter color in the center of the eye.
  • Darken the outer v of the eye and the outer edge of the lower lash line with Time Travel.
  • Add a hint of White Lies to the inner corner of the eye and bring under the inner part of the lower lash line until it meets the blue shades.
  • Smoke out the lower lash line using Poolside and pat on the lower waterline extending the color into a small “beak” on the inner corner.
  • Curl your lashes and add a set of fun, dramatic lashes.

VIBRANT PURPLE SMOKEY EYE BY PAULING ALAIEV

  • With a combination of Cocoa Bear and Aphrodite, sweep the color through the crease blending upward and out.
  • Use a flat, stiff brush and Pat Center Stage on the inner and outer 1/3 of the eye coming up slightly past the crease.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Caitlin Rose next to Center Stage on the inner and outer part of the eye making sure to blend where the colors meet.
  • Pat Day Dreamer on the center of the lid.
  • Smudge Aphrodite on the lower lash line coming in all the way and smoke out using Cocoa Bear.
  • Line the upper and lower water lines with Obsidian, curl your lashes and add a set of wispy lashes.

  • Sweep Desert Sands into the crease with a fluffy brush as your transition shade.
  • Go in with Sin City and place into the crease blending upward and out slightly.
  • Go in with a clean brush and feather out any lines.
  • Use Mirage under your brow as your highlight.
  • Pat Secret Garden over the lower lid coming up slightly past the crease.
  • Go back in with Sin City and blend out any lines.
  • Darken the outer v of the eye with Bada Bing.
  • Smudge Corrupt on the lower lash line and smoke out with Bada Bing.
  • Pat Bada Bing on the lower water line.
  • Place a small amount of Roulette on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Use a small amount of mixing medium or contact solution and Casino and line the upper lash line creating a winged edge.
  • Bold and dramatic lashes are all that’s needed to finish this exotic look.

  • Sweep Peach Smoothie into your crease.
  • Pat Chickadee on the inner 1/3 of your lower lid coming up past the crease.
  • Wipe off your brush and place Roulette on the outer 1/3 of your eye coming up past the crease and wrapping the color around under the entire length of the eye.
  • Go back in with Peach Smoothie and blend out the crease and smoke out the lower lash line.
  • Pat Solstice over the center of the eye with a flat, stiff b rush making sure to overlap where it meets the other shades.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Light Year on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Line the upper and lower water lines with Espresso as well as the upper lash line.
  • Finish by adding a pair of soft, wispy lashes.
