Idea Gallery Round-Up: April 2016

Warm weather has arrived and with it an abundance of bright, bold look to love.  With an overflow of brighter shades adorning eyes, we still had plenty of soft, classic looks that rock the spring weather and will have you looking stunning in no time. From edgy, vampy looks, to soft and subtle there is no better place to channel your inner Makeup Geek than our Idea Gallery. 😉

Under each image we have included the tips and tricks for recreating the look. Also, if there is a video tutorial that accompanies the look we will link it for you at the bottom of the individual look. GRUNGY SPECKLED EYE BY MARIAH BARNUM

Break out of the mold with this daring and dramatic look. Change up the colors of the specks or keep it as is for an expressive look to love.

Products Used: Kat Von D MI Vida Loca Palette, Makeup Geek Duochrome in Ritzy, Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in Bitten, Cherry Cola, Chickadee, Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in Flame Thrower, Jester, Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Plumeria, Colored Liquid Liners

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Gel Liner in Immortal

Makeup Geek Alternatives: Shimma Shimma

  • Sweep Chickadee through your crease as a transition shade.
  • Pat Cherry Cola on the inner and outer 1/3 of the lower lid and connect in the crease.
  • Feather Bitten above Cherry Cola feathering out any harsh lines.
  • Add Shimma Shimma under the brow as your highlight. (You can also use Skulls from the KVD MI Vida Loca Palette).
  • Pat Jester on the center of the lower lid making sure to blend where it meets the Cherry Cola.
  • Smudge Cherry Cola on the lower lash line coming in all the way smoking the color out and downward.
  • Wipe off your brush and place Jester on the lower lash line coming in 1/2 of the way.
  • Smoke out the edge of Jester with Flame Thrower.
  • Go in with Ritzy and use to smoke out the colors on the lower lash line.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal creating a winged edge.
  • Line the lower waterline with Plumeria.
  • Use any liquid liner of your choice, here the artist used a yellow/gold and a plum shade and create leopard spots on the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line following the wing and on the inner corner going up toward the brow allowing them to get smaller as you work upward.
  • Use the plum shade and place your spots on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line getting smaller and your work downward.
  • Add a set of lashes and a intense black mascara to your bottom lashes.

 

CRYSTAL SHADE BY MARISA BAHTIJARI

Classic and elegant with just a hint of color, this classic sensation is ideal for a wedding, night out or capturing the attention of someone special.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Burlesque, Cocoa Bear, Corrupt, Morocco, White Lies, Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in In the Spotlight

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Gel Liner in Immortal

  • Dust Morocco into the crease as your transition shade buffing the color upward and out.
  • Darken the crease with Cocoa Bear feathering out any harsh lines.
  • Use a smaller dome brush and darken the crease with Burlesque.
  • Accentuate the outer v of the eye with Corrupt  blending out any lines.
  • Pat In The Spotlight over the lower lid staying below the crease area.
  • Smudge Burlesque on the lower lash line coming in to where your lashes begin.
  • Darken the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line with Corrupt.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal creating a winged edge.
  • Use White Lies under your brow as your highlight and add to the inner corner of the eye.
  • Add Vegas Nay’s lashes in Shining Star, a soft peach blush and Kat Von D’s Lolita to complete the look.

CLASSIC LOOK WITH MUG BY JUSTYNA KOLODZIEJ

Classic and coveted, this look stands the test of time and is easy to recreate. Pair it with bold red lips, or soft pink/rose lip for a more muted and elegant look.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Bedrock, Concrete Jungle, Corrupt

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in White Lies, Makeup Geek Gel Liner in Immortal, Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Liner in Obsidian

  • Line the upper lash line with Obsidian keeping the color close to the lashes toward the inner corner and extending upward into a cat eye as your go out. (This can be messy as we will blend it out).
  • Use a small smudge brush and smoke out the black liner focusing on the outer corner of the eye.
  • Go in with the same smudge brush and Corrupt and place over the black liner.
  • Once the liner is smudged, use Corrupt and sweep the color inward slightly.
  • Wipe off your brush and go in with Concrete Jungle and pat over the edge of the Corrupt followed by Bedrock. (You want a soft gradient from darkest to lightest from the lash line going into a cat eye).
  • Pat White Lies over the rest of the lower lid and on the inner corner.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal creating a dramatic wing.
  • Makeup sure you add mascara to the bottom lashes.
  • Add a set of dramatic lashes and a bold red lip or for a day look a soft pink lip.
  • This is a great look for transitioning from your work day, to a night out.

BREATH OF SPRING BY MALGORZATA KIELOCH

Soft and stunning just like spring, this seasonal inspired look offers a hint of duochrome goodness to your eyes to create whimsical effect that’s sure to please.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Duochrome Shadow in Ritzy, Secret Garden, Makeup Geek Eye Shadow in Barcelona Beach, Cocoa Bear, Desert Sands, White Lies, Makeup Geek Foiled Eye Shadow in Starry Eyed

  • With a fluffy brush, sweep Barcelona Beach in the crease and buff upward.
  • Wipe off your brush and place Cocoa Bear in the crease to add dimension and buff out any lines.
  • Blend out any harsh lines from the Cocoa Bear with Desert Sands.
  • Place White Lies under the brow as your highlight.
  • Pat Ritzy over the lower lid coming in to where your lashes begin and staying below the crease colors.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Starry Eyed over the inner corner of the lower lid where the Ritzy left off.
  • Smudge Secret Garden on the lower lash line coming in to where your lashes begin followed by Starry Eyed.
  • Line the upper lash line with Secret Garden creating a small wing at the edge of your eye.
  • Add a set of soft, wispy lashes and a nude peach lip to finish.

Makeup Geek Alternatives: Sugar Rush, Bitten, Tiki Hut

  • Buff Beaches and Cream into the crease as a transition shade.
  • Use the Makeup Geek Pointed Crease brush (or any pointed crease brush) and gently sweep Mars from the Manny MUA Palette or Bitten into the crease  as well as on the outer 1/2 of the lower lash line wrapping the color around the edge of the eye.
  • Use the crease brush to blend out any lines.
  • Wipe off the brush and go in with Sora from the Manny MUA Palette or Tiki Hut and blend above the crease shades getting rid of any harsh lines for a smooth edge.
  • Use a small detail brush and place White Lies under the brow as your highlight.
  • With a small detail brush, pat an emerald base over the lower lid staying below the crease color.
  • Wipe off your brush and pat Venom over the base again staying below the crease.
  • Smudge Flame Thrower on the lower lash line where the red shade left off coming in almost to where your lashes begin.
  • Finish the lower lash line with Fortune Teller.
  • Add a pop of Sugarpill’s Lumi or Makeup Geek’s Sugar Rush to the inner corner sweeping the color onto the lower lid slightly.
  • Darken the outer 1/3 of the eye with Corrupt going back and with Sora or Bitten and blending out any lines.
  • Darken the lower lash line with Corrupt and a small detail brush keeping the color close to the lashes.
  • Line the upper and lower waterlines with Immortal or Obsidian creating v on the inner tear duct.
  • Curl your lashes and add a set of wispy, tapered lashes.

SOFT NO EYELINER MAKEUP LOOK BY DENITSLAVA M

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Cocoa Bear, Morocco, Peach Smoothie, Shimma Shimma

  • Sweep Peach Smoothie into your crease as a transition shade.
  • Use a smaller brush and apply Morocco in the crease buffing out any lines.
  • Place Cocoa Bear on the outer 1/3 of the eye and sweep slightly into the crease going back and blending out any lines.
  • Smudge Morocco on the outer 1/2 of the lower lash line.
  • Pat Shimma Shimma on the inner 1/2 of the lower lid and under your brow as your highlight as well as in the inner corner of your eye.
  • Use a fluffy brush and Peach Smoothie and starting at the outer corner of your eye, blend the colors upward creating a “lift” to the eyes.
  • Curl your lashes and add mascara. (This will help your lashes hold the curl as well as aid them in blending with the false lashes).
  • Add a set of tapered lashes to elongate the eye.
  • Combined with a soft pink cheek and a rosey pink lip for a breathtaking look.

NATURAL DAILY LOOK BY MALGORZATA KIELOCH

Looking for a daily look that’ easy to do and works for any occasion? Then look no further than this timeless look that transition from day to night with the change of a lip color.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye shadows in Barcelona Beach, Beaches and Cream, Cinderella, Shimma Shimma, White Lies, Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in Starry Eyed

  • Sweep Cinderella into the crease and pat on the lower lid leaving the inner 1/3 open.
  • Buff out any lines above the crease with Beaches and Cream.
  • Wipe off your brush and place White Lies under the brow as your highlight.
  • Use a smaller dome brush and Barcelona Beach and sweep into the crease.
  • Go back with your fluffy brush and blend out any lines.
  • Pat Starry Eyed on the inner 1/3 of the eye.
  • Smudge Barcelona Beach under the eye coming in 1/2 way.
  • Wipe off your brush and smudge Shimma Shimm under the rest of the eye coming in to the inner corner.
  • Line the upper lash line with Barcelona Beach creating a small wing.
  • Add a set of tapered lashes for added drama and make sure to coat your bottom lashes as well.

GLAM LINER CUT CREASE BY KASEY RAYTON

Everyone craves a glamorous cut crease and this hits the target. Using soft shades from the Manny MUA palette, this becomes the ideal look for day, night, or even as a captivating bride.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in Vanilla Bean, Manny MUA Palette

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Gel Liner in Immortal, NYX Nude Glam Aqua Luxe Liner (or any metallic liner)

Makeup Geek Alternatives: Tiki Hut, Americano, Foiled Shadow in Starry Eyed

  • Pat Vanilla Bean over the enter eye to set your primer.
  • Sweep Sora or Tiki Hut into the crease using windshield wiper motions.
  • Go back with your fluffy brush and feather out any lines.
  • Use a pointed crease brush and Frappe and place in the crease to help start the cut crease.
  • Use a small smudge brush and Aphrodite or Americano and place in the crease to create the “cut”.
  • Go back and blend out any lines.
  • Use a detail brush and a concealer or paint pot and place on the lower lid and use to clean up the lines in the crease.
  • Set the concealer with Vanilla Bean.
  • Pat Artemis or Starry Eyed over the lower lid staying below the crease.
  • Trace the cut crease with NYX Glam Aqua Luxe Liner or a metallic liner of your choice.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal creating a winged edge.
  • Buff Sora or Tiki Hut on the lower lash line followed by Frappe only on the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line.
  • Smoke out with Cosmopolitan and add Artemis or Starry Eyed to the inner corner.
  •  Curl your lashes and add a set of dramatic lashes. (Huda Beauty Farrah Faux Mink Lashes were used here).
  • Top it off with a soft pink cheek and a nude pink lip.

  • Darken the outer v of the eye with Corrupt and smudge on the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line.
  • Line the upper and lower waterlines with Espresso and add a set of long lashes.
  • Be sure and add mascara to the bottom lashes and add a touch of Starry Eyed to the inner corner.

  • Go back with Carnival and blend out any lines.
  • Smudge Curfew on the lower lash line coming in to where your lashes begin.
  • Smoke out the color using Carnival.
  • Pat Halo over the lower lid staying below the crease.
  • Highlight the inner corner with Mai Tai.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal creating a dramatic winged edge, and line the upper and lower waterlines.
  • Finish with a set of spikey lashes and a bold pink lip. (You could also do a soft pink lip for a tone downed look).

  • Buff Peach Smoothie in your crease as your transition shade.
  • Place Cocoa Bear in the crease and blend out using Frappe followed by Beaches and Cream. (You want to create a smooth gradient from dark to light).
  • Pat Bitten over the lower lid leaving the inner edge empty.
  • Darken the outer edge of the eye with Cocoa Bear.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal extending the wing up toward the end of your brow and create a “beak” on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Smudge the same black on the lower lash line coming in all the way and line the upper and lower waterlines.
  • Smoke out the lower lash line with Bitten followed by Frappe.
  • Add Shimma Shimma to the inner edge of the eye and under the brow as your highlight.
  • Now all that’s left to do is add a set of lashes and a nice Marsala lipstick.

  • Smudge Makeup Geek’s Pencil Liner in Espresso over the lower lid using a smudge brush to buff the color upward but staying below the crease.
  • Go back and darken the lower lash line with Espresso.
  • Pat Mars or Bitten over the lower lid coming up slightly past the crease.
  • Buff out any harsh lines with Tiki Hut or Sora, followed by Beaches and Cream.
  • Line the lower lash line with Espresso and smoke out using Bitten or Mars.
  • Wipe off your brush and buff out the previous shade on the lower lash line with Sora or Tiki Hut.
  • Add a touch of I’m Peachless on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Line the lower waterline with Plumeria.
  • Curl your lashes and add your favorite mascara.
  • Amp up the look by adding a set of false lashes and a Kat Von D’s Lolita on the lips.

PEARL & VIOLET BY ANSHU

  • Gently pat Motown over the base leaving the inner edge of the eye blank.
  • Use a fluffy brush and sweep Curfew into the crease buffing out any lines.
  • Smoke the same shade on the lower lash line coming all the way.
  • Line the lower waterline with Orchid pencil liner.
  • Add Blacklight on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Place Makeup Geek’s Sparkler in Nebula on the center of the lower lid staying below the crease.
  • Curl your lashes and add asset of edgy lashes.
  • Add an edgy purple gradient lip for a look others will envy.

OCEAN EYE BY VER VAN LAERHOVEN

  • Go in with Peach Smoothie and buff in the crease as your transition shade.
  • Place Chickadee in the crease buffing out any lines.
  • Use a smaller dome brush and Shark Bait and place on the outer 1/3 of the eye and sweep into the crease coming in all the way. (Keep this color lower into the crease).
  • Wipe off your brush and go in with Poolside and use to feather out any lines from the Shark Bait.
  • Go back with the brush your used to apply Chickadee and blend out any excess lines.
  • Darken the outer v of the eye with Peacock and smudge under the outer 1/3 of the eye..
  • Pat Pegasus on the lower water line.
  • Pat Shimma Shimma on the inner part of the lower lid staying below the crease and on the inner corner.
  • Use a smudge brush and smudge the same shimmery color on the lower lash line until it meets the Peacock.
  • Curl your lashes and add a set of wispy lashes.
  • Use a liquid liner to cover the band of the lashes if necessary.

TYPHOON BY ALLY MAHER

  • Sweep Poppy into the crease with a fluffy brush blending upward slightly.
  • Wipe off your brush and blend out any lines with Chickadee.
  • Pat Typhoon over the lower lid coming up slightly past the crease.
  • Darken the outer the edge of the eye with Concrete Jungle and sweep slightly into the crease to darken it.
  • Go back with your fluffy brush and feather out any lines.
  • Line the upper lash line with Immortal creating a wing at the edge of the eye.
  • Line the upper and lower waterlines with Immortal and smudge under the eye coming in all the way.
  • Use Typhoon and create a “beak” on the inner corner of the eye.
  • Smoke out the liner using Poppy followed by Chickadee.
  • Add lashes and you are set with a stunning look to carry you through the day and into night.

MANNYMUA PALETTE / SPRING MAKEUP BY ANAIZ AVALOS

  • Place a piece of scotch tape along the outer edge of your eye. (You can also use a cotton bud and makeup remover just make sure to do your eyes first).
  • Feather Beaches and Cream into your crease as your transition shade.
  • With a pointed crease brush, place Bitten or Mars on the outer 1/2 of the eye and sweep into the crease blend into the crease buffing upward and out.
  • Wipe off your brush and go in with Frappe and place above the crease color using it to blend out any lines from the crease.
  • Wipe off your brush again and blend out any lines from Frappe with Sora or Tiki Hut.
  • Use Beaches and Cream to blend out any lines that might remain and under your brow.
  • Darken the outer edge of the eye with Aphrodite or Americano.
  • Pat Artemis or Starry Eyed on the part of your lower lid staying below the crease.
  • If you used tape gently remove it at this time.
  • Smudge a combination of Boo Berry and Shore Thing on the lower lash line coming in all the way.
  • Smoke out the lower lash line with Shore Thing.
  • Add a hint of White Lies to the inner corner of the eye and add a set of lashes.

  • Buff Bedrock into your crease as your transition and buff upward.
  • Go in with Concrete Jungle and place in the crease.
  • Go back in with Bedrock and buff out any lines.
  • Pat Vintage on the inner and outer 1/3 of the lower lid.
  • Darken the crease using Bitten and buff out any lines.
  • Add a small amount of Concrete Jungle to the inner 1/3 of the eye.
  • Place Vanilla Bean under the brow as your highlight and use to feather out any remaining lines left behind.
  • Smudge Vintage on the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line and smoke out using Bitten.
  • Wipe off your brush and smudge Concrete Jungle on the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line and smoke out with Bedrock.
  • Use a small flat brush to pat Day Dreamer on the center of the upper lid and on the center of the lower lash line.
  • Go in with Pegasus and add a small amount to the very center of the lid.
  • Darken the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line with Corrupt.
  • Line the upper and lower waterlines with Obsidian and add a set of natural lashes.

Other Products Needed: Makeup Geek Pigment in Liquid Gold

Makeup Geek Alternatives: Rapunzel, Tiki Hut, Simply Marlena

  • Buff Beaches and Cream into the crease as you highlight.
  • Go in with Mars or a combination of Simply Marlena and Bitten and sweep through the crease buffing upward and out.
  • Use a pointed crease brush to place Cherry Cola on the inner and outer 1/3 of the eye and in the crease brining the color all the way to the inner corner.
  • Use the same brush to pick up Bitten and apply above the Cherry Cola in the crease to the inner corner and wrap it around the inner part of the eye and smudge under the eye until it meets the outer corner.
  • Go back with your fluffy brush and feather out any lines.
  • Use Sora or Tiki Hut to smoke out the bottom lash line.
  • Pat Cherry Cola over the lower water line.
  • Pat Liquid Gold over the center of the lower lid making sure to blend where it meets the Cherry Cola.
  • Use Artemis or Rapunzel under your brow as you highlight and add a set of tapered lashes to complete the look.

Nothing makes us happier than looks that are easy to recreate but make you look as if you spent hours on your makeup. This versatile look is great for every eye color and has us craving summer colors.

Products Used: Makeup Geek Eye Shadows in CupcakeCurfew, Motown, Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in Pegasus

  • Buff Cupcake through the crease blending the color upward and out for a smooth transition.
  • Darken the inner and outer 1/3 of the eye with Curfew and sweep into the crease as well.
  • Smudge the same shade on the inner and outer 1/3 of the lower lash line.
  • Darken the outer v of the eye with Motown.
  • Pat Pegasus on the center of the lid and the lower lash line making sure to blend where the two shades meet.
  • Add a set of great lashes and you are done!
