Inspiration that will help you boost your photography business.
Just a month after she created her own, new website, she was sitting at the airport not knowing, where she was going. All she had, was a mysterious envelope. It was probably one of the most unusual jobs she was ever offered.
We do hear “make your dreams come true” every now and then during birthdays and holidays. And yet, how often do we really take matters into our own hands? Answer for yourself and take a look at photographers’ most fundamental dream – being successful with their passion and turning it into a business.
What’s the recipe for that? Work hard, do your best, have a great website, be patient and… watch the results! Seems too easy? Or maybe too hard? You may be surprised, but such stories really happen… sometimes – check out the inspirational story of Carly Moon Images and motivate yourself to take action.
Baby Bumps and Newborns
Carly Moon-Warnick is a Canadian photographer living in England. Her most remarkable works include one of the cutest newborn babies’ sessions and stunning pregnancy sessions and weddings. That’s how she has been making her money so far.
But her hobby is to travel. Travel and shoot everything she sees. She even confessed on her Facebook profile that she’d be able to leave everything she does behind and become a travel photographer, if she was offered such a job.
And one day, she received a mysterious ticket to an unknown location for her first travel photography assignment…
Time for Changes
A website is a really important tool for a photographer, she always knew that. Along with her social media profiles, she had an easy and nice website. She had a blog, uploaded her photos, got contacted with clients. But it missed “that thing”. So she went through the length and breadth of the Internet in search for something different, which could satisfy her needs. She finally decided to try one of the new web builders in the market. It quickly turned out that Photler’s website was exactly what she needed. It wasn’t really only about presenting her photos, but mostly about unique tools made strictly for travel photographers. It makes a difference, when you can pin your galleries to the interactive world map. It makes your trips very intimate and visualize them for your visitors. After all, joining the community of other travel photographers, created by a travel photographer, was a crucial point. More shares on social media lead to more visitors and finally… to that one special visitor who offered her a job.
Dreams Became Reality
Imagine waking up, checking your phone as usual, and finding there an email with the perfect job offer. Awaking guaranteed! Especially, that this time it wasn’t just another wedding or baby session. It was an offer to become a travel photographer!
It came from Addie Lynn Clark, who created the idea and now organizes Secret Getaway Travels. But for Carly it wasn’t just a couple of days spent in a secret destination. She was chosen to be a special correspondent, an ambassador, a professional who can show the trip in the most beautiful way possible. This must have been important for Addie, as Carly was the first one to go for her Secret Travel.
Carly was offered the trip worth from $450 to $2,000, according to the Secret Getaway Travels website. She spent 3 days as a professional brand ambassador in Grindelwald, Switzerland. Thanks to that partnership, her works reached over 2,000 new Facebook users – including the fans of Secret Getaway Travels, followers that commented on the post about the special competition, their friends, and people who saw the sponsored post about the competition.
During the trip, Carly took professional photos and videos, and did a live stream on her Facebook page – and this kind of job, you have to admit that, is far from boredom. She posted photos and videos on her social media accounts, but mostly… she was purely living her life there.
Now, the Doors are Open
The trip was short, but it changed her life as a photographer. The new, professional website, which showed her as an expert of travel photography, just a few weeks after she created it, gave her that opportunity. This offer opened the door for another amazing adventures she’ll have with her camera all over the world.
The lesson is really simple here – if you want to change something in your life, your profession, you have to do it with your own hands. Addie wouldn’t know Carly as a travel photographer if it wasn’t for her website – built using Photler. No one will know about your dream profession, if you won’t show it to the world. That’s the importance of your own website. That’s where the magic happens. Make sure it fully reflects who you are and what you do. It has to follow some rules, but the most important thing is a beautiful presentation of your works. Never give up your dreams, chase them and do everything to fulfill them.
